چکیده

The photoinduced electrical transport properties of C(59)N@SWNTs are investigated by assembling them into FET devices. Our findings demonstrate that azafullerene molecules inside SWNTs make nanotube FET devices very sensitive to UV light exposure by the decrease of source-drain current upon light exposure. The photoswitching effect is found to be dependent on wavelengths of light and becomes negligible when the wavelength is increased to 480 nm. The photoinduced electron transfer is proposed to take place inside C(59)N@SWNTs due to the specific electronic structure of C(59)N, the heteromolecule bonding of which is sensitive to light.

Self-heating effect modeling of a carbon nanotube-based fieldeffect transistor (CNTFET)

We present the design and simulation of a single-walled carbon nanotube(SWCNT)-based field-effect transistor (FET) using Silvaco TCAD. In this paper, theself-heating effect modeling of the CNT MOSFET structure is performed and comparedwith conventional MOSFET structure having same channel length. The numericalresults are presented to show the self-heating effect on the I...

High yield assembly and electron transport investigation of semiconducting-rich local-gated single-walled carbon nanotube field effect transistors.

We report the fabrication and electron transport investigation of individual local-gated single-walled carbon nanotube field effect transistors (SWNT-FET) with high yield using a semiconducting-rich carbon nanotube solution. The individual semiconducting nanotubes were assembled at the selected position of the circuit via dielectrophoresis. Detailed electron transport investigations on 70 devic...

Single-walled carbon nanotube field-effect transistors with graphene oxide passivation for fast, sensitive, and selective protein detection.

We report a novel technique to design an insulating membrane with attachment sites on top of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) for achieving high sensitivity and selectivity in an SWNT field-effect transistor (FET) biosensor. Because electronic properties of SWNTs are extremely sensitive to the surface state, direct immobilization of proteins or DNAs onto SWNTs will generate surface defect...

Formation of Azafullerene Encapsulated Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes Using Plasma Ion Irradiation Method

The synthesis of azafullerene C59N is realized through a nitrogen plasma irradiation method, which is confirmed by the analysis of mass spectroscopy. A plasma consisting of a fullerene negative ion C60 and the azafullerene positive ion C59NC60-C59N plasmais generated by means of an electron beam ionization. C60 and C59N ions are selectively irradiated to single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT...

Dissecting single-molecule signal transduction in carbon nanotube circuits with protein engineering.

Single-molecule experimental methods have provided new insights into biomolecular function, dynamic disorder, and transient states that are all invisible to conventional measurements. A novel, nonfluorescent single-molecule technique involves attaching single molecules to single-walled carbon nanotube field-effective transistors (SWNT FETs). These ultrasensitive electronic devices provide long-...
